Sentinel ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account data — your name and email address when you register.
• Website monitoring data — URLs, check intervals, response times, HTTP status codes, and SSL expiry dates for sites you add.
• Settings — your monitoring preferences stored against your account.
• Session data — a temporary session cookie to keep you logged in.

We do not collect payment information, browsing history, or any data beyond what is needed to monitor your websites.

2. How we use your data

• To perform uptime and performance checks on your monitored websites.
• To send you email alerts when a site's status changes.
• To display your monitoring dashboard.
• To maintain your account and preferences.

We do not sell, share, or rent your data to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data storage

Your data is stored in a secured MySQL database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. Monitoring history is retained according to the retention period you configure (default 30 days), after which it is automatically deleted.

4. Email communications

We send transactional emails only — specifically, alert notifications for websites you have configured with an alert email address. We do not send marketing or promotional emails.

5. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to authenticate you while you are logged in. This cookie is deleted when you close your browser or log out. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

6. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Postbox (postbox.ezee.li) — for sending transactional email alerts. Your email address is transmitted to this service only when an alert is sent.
• Google Fonts — for typography. Google may log font requests.
• Font Awesome — for icons, served via CDN.

7. Data retention and deletion

You may delete your websites and associated monitoring data at any time from the dashboard. To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at the email address below. We will process your request within 30 days.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including bcrypt password hashing, session cookie hardening (HttpOnly, SameSite), and HTTPS enforcement. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

9. Children's privacy

This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 years of age.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
